Two Baht Discount on Chao Phraya Express Boats

Do you use a Rabbit Card for the Skytrain in Bangkok? If so, did you know that you can now use this card on all Chao Phraya Express boats? As a special promotion, if you use your Rabbit Card to buy tickets for any line then you will get a 2 Baht discount up until 31st August 2023.

In the above example, I bought my ticket for an Orange Flag boat at Rajinee Pier. Normally this is a fixed 16 Baht per trip. But it cost me 14 Baht. The ticket also tells me that I have 72 Baht left on my Rabbit Card.

The ticket collector uses an NFC device to scan your card to deduct the amount for the ticket. In this example I was doing it at the pier as it is compulsory at Rajinee Pier to buy tickets in advance. But I am told that you can do this on the boat if you board at piers that don’t have a ticket seller.

It should also be noted that you might find out, like me, that there isn’t any money on your card. In my case, this is because I have linked my Rabbit Card with LINE Wallet and I top it up by using my mobile banking app. This doesn’t work on the Chao Phraya Express boats. You need to have physical money on the card and not in your LINE Wallet. You can use the machines like in the picture above to see how much physical money you have on your card and also to top it up. In my case, the ticket seller at the pier topped it up for me.
